Axial flux stator and rotor core


Axial flux motor technology has become a core upgrade direction for new energy vehicle drives, with its specially designed stator and rotor cores bringing decisive advantages over traditional radial flux laminated cores. Different from conventional stacked silicon steel structures, the axial flux stator and rotor cores adopt a continuous wound core process, eliminating segmented splicing gaps inside the magnetic circuit.
This integrated winding structure aligns perfectly with the rolling orientation of silicon steel strips, greatly reducing hysteresis and eddy current losses. The smooth and continuous magnetic path minimizes magnetic resistance mutation, cutting core heat loss significantly and expanding the motor’s high-efficiency operating range. For electric vehicles, this optimization directly improves endurance and reduces the load on the thermal management system.
In terms of structure, the annular wound core features superior integrity and stability. It effectively suppresses high-speed vibration and operating noise, adapting to the frequent variable-load working conditions of vehicle motors. Meanwhile, the rolling process reduces material waste, delivering better mass production economy. Although axial flux core manufacturing requires precise tension control, its high power density and efficient energy conversion make it the preferred solution for Tesla’s next-generation ultra-thin, high-torque electric drive motors.
